25 Years Ago We Lost Sweetness

Walter Payton is one of the greatest football players in history. He did anything and everything a superstar should do, or had to do. His body took many a beating for thirteen seasons. In those thirteen seasons, he only missed one game. ONE GAME! He was durable and reliable. He was a badass. He was Sweetness.
Then a kidney disease took over his body. He fought the good fight. He was on the waiting list for a transplant.
Even the big, bold, and powerful face a challenge that overcomes them. Walter Payton was the epitome of perfect health. He never did drugs. He was always constantly working out.
He wasn't supposed to die so soon. Today, November 1st, 2024, he's been gone for a quarter of a century. What would Walter Payton be doing now? Probably owning a NFL franchise. Probably out and about on the speaking tour.
Today I'll be thinking of the man called Sweetness.
