The Neighborhood Grocer
I lived on a nice quiet street growing up. For a while I lived on the quietest and safest street I'm town...the commissioner of the police department lived across the street from us! My mom would give me some money to pick up sandwiches from the Deli, or milk, eggs, or whatever else she needed when she didn't want to drive into downtown for groceries. Ms. Norma would give me money and a note to buy cigarettes! With the change I got to buy a candy bar. My uncle would send me to the store for bagel dogs and a Squirt. He also let me buy candy with the change. I had one of my first loves here. Cute blonde girl named Lynnette. She was the first girl that ever paid me any attention in my late teens. She would eventually break my heart in my early twenties. Took me a while to get over her. Life goes on though. We moved out of the neighborhood in late summer 1993.
